Protest

A few weeks ago, Micheale's friend Gordon told us about Focus on the Family's conference on reparative therapy that is being held in Phoenix this month. Immediately we wanted to do something. We sent emails to our friends asking them to join us in protest. The responses were swift and growing in number. Little did we know several other groups and individuals in Phoenix were planning the same thing. In a community usually marked by apathy and division, unity grew organically.

The Arizona Human Rights Fund were contacted by many of these groups and individuals to see if they would lead the effort and help organize the event. Last Thursday I attended a planning meeting at AHRF's offices. There were about 20 or more people there. After an hour and a half, together we accomplished so much. It was really something to witness.

Last May, a reporter for the Village Voice attended the "Love Won Out" conference. Here is her story.

If you are in the Phoenix area or nearby, please consider lending your support in some way. Focus on the Family promotes intolerance based on ignorance and that affects us all, gay and straight.
