This-or-That Tuesday: Personal Habits, Quirks,

This-or-That
Tuesday: Personal Habits, Quirks, Routines, etc.

1. Do you prefer silence or do you like background sound (music, TV, etc)?
Background music. Silence can be disturbing.

2. Bathe/shower in morning or evening?
Always morning. Sometimes
morning and evening.

3. Sleeping in complete darkness, or with a nightlight on? It has to
be pitch black.

4. Lay out clothes the night before, or just grab what's closest in the morning?

Depends how much I care. Usually I don't.

5. Hang up/fold clothes neatly, or just toss them wherever?
I have
many laundry baskets but always throw my clothes on a pile on the floor.

6. Work out at a gym, or at home on your own (or do you not bother with
exercise)?
Bally's has me in it's evil clutches.

7. Talk on the phone, or via IM/e-mail?
Depends who it is. Local
= Phone. Long Distance = IM or email.

8. Are you usually on time, or late?
I am usually freakishly
early. I hate being late.

9. Spendthrift or frugal?
Usually on the frugal side but sometimes I
impulse buy. (I didn't actually need that Better Pasta Pot...and, of course,
it turned out to be a huge piece of crap.)

10. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: You work with someone who is not in
the habit of bathing regularly. The smell seems to be getting worse and worse!
Would you: 1. try to do something about it, or 2. try to grin and bear it? If
you said 1, what would you do?
How about "3. Make someone else (e.g.
Management) deal with it."?

Crap! I just realized it's Wednesday. The 3 day weekend has really
messed me up.

White Trash

You know...I left Oklahoma years ago expecting the leave white trash behind, however I
find myself living next to a woman whom I suspect is only able to pay her rent
from the residual checks she no doubt receives from her guest appearances on
Springer. Just once I would like to come home and not find a
shopping cart sitting in front of the apartment filled with her trash or laundry
or her.

I wish I were kidding about the last one.

A few months ago, she broke her leg. (I knew something was up when it was
quiet for a couple weeks. She was probably in the hospital.) One
night, I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and I hear the usual yelling that
goes on between her and her four year old. I just rolled my eyes and went
on stirring my dinner on the stove. Then I hear, "Now you have to go
easy or you'll break Mommy," followed by the sound of the cart rolling
slowly but making a lot of noise going over the breaks in the pavement.

Now I was a bit curious. I had the patio blinds pulled back a little, so I
leaned out of the kitchen just in time to see the four year old pulling the cart
from the front and her in the cart with her legs sticking out of the back.
It was sad and surreal, like something out of a John Waters movie. Somehow,
she had maneuvered herself into the back of the cart through the part that flips
up. Ever so slowly, they passed by my view. I half expected her to
yell "Mush! Mush!" to the little kid.

Speaking of John Waters, Cutie Patootie Michelle go to meet him at the
Phoenix Film Festival last month. Here
is a picture of them beating up a guy in a bunny costume
. I am
completely jealous!

Makeover

So...the new look...do you like?

I stumbled across squidfingers one day and became inspired to do something new with my template. Even though it's not radically different, it's something. Right?

Now, if only I could get inspired to post something. It's not that there is nothing going on. I've actually been kind of busy lately. Here are some things that I've thought about posting but have been too preoccupied to get around to doing it.

  • Loving the Sydney/Evil Francie smack down. Hating the "you've been missing for two years so we thought you were dead" ending. (What crap!)
  • A few weeks ago I got to see a sneak preview of Down With Love. It was a very funny, cute movie. The TV commercials make the movie look like something it's not. Don't believe their lies.
  • I've been taking a lot of walks lately. It occurred to me one day that while I have lived here for almost six years, I've never spent any time exploring the area. I've been really surprised how much I like some of the neighborhoods.
