Like Trying to Find Ice in Hell
Today I attempted the impossible. For Thanksgiving, I'm going to Denver to visit Thomas. Word is it gets kinda cold there and since I like my balls and don't want them to freeze off, I need a coat. The problem is I live in the desert where I've never needed a coat. Ever. Not once in eleven years.
After a couple stores I came up empty (plus they all smelled like feet) and then I realized I needed to go to that mecca of coats: Burlington Coat Factory. Ever been to one? Here's what it is like. Imagine all the merchandise of four retail clothing stores crammed into one. That's pretty much what it's like.
After wading through racks and racks of coats, I think I found something that might work. Or at least will slow down me getting hypothermia over the holiday weekend.

Hang on to your receipt. ALL COATS are half off at Old Navy this weekend. I bought a cute one. Half off? Dude, that's a deal!

Do you really need a coat... Toughen the fuck up. It can't be that cold can it? I mean there's no snow yet... Is there?
I wouldn't have a clue, I'm a warm climate dweller too, so the whole idea sounds crazy to me, but I do have a super warm coat I could lend you if you want to stop by and borrow it?

You should try REI on Southern & Priest.
They sell some stylish snow stuff.

I sat here and laughed as I read your post. Last year, I had to shop for a coat to go up to Portland for my friend Marilyn's bday. I'm a transplanted Hawaiian girl, living in SoCal. What use do I have for a coat? I too, ended up at Burlington. I texted her from there and told her what trouble I was having. I finally ended up with a coat..which I NEVER wore, because the weather in Portland was unseasonably temperate. That coat sits in my closet; a reminder that I did actually find ice in hell.
