I Flickr'd and Twittered about it on Friday but then I remember, oh right! I still have a blog!
Elliott's not doing so well. He's lost a lot of weight and last week ate less and less, eventually just not eating at all. Friday afternoon, I went with my friend Mason to the veterinary clinic he works to have Elliott checked out. They did blood tests and an ultrasound to rule out tumors/cancer.
Elliott has hepatic lipidosis or fatty liver. The treatment is nutrition which means force feeding.
Not. As. Easy. As. It. Sounds.
Especially if you are doing it alone. It's pretty difficult holding him down while trying to shove a syringe full of full down his throat. Plus, if I overfeed him, he vomits.
Fun.
Tomorrow, Mason's taking him in that have a feeding tube put in Elliott's stomach. Sounds awful, but honestly, I think it will be much better for him and for me. That way, he will get the protein he needs.
And speaking of Mason, he's my hero of the year. He's been SO awesome with Elliott and he and everyone at the clinic have been amazing.
I feel pretty good about Elliott's chances for recovery. He still has a lot of fight in him, which is good.

Oh poor baby. I recently went through a very stressful illness of my baby, Autumn. It is the worst feeling to see them sick. I'll be thinking of both of you.

All my love to sweet Elliott (and to you too of course) - I hope he gets better soon, he's so adorable I hate to hear he's sick...Do keep us posted on his recovery!

Shaved pussy jokes? Huh I don't get it... Is that like an American thing? There is nothing funny about a shaved pussy, they're itchy and end up covered in unsightly ingrown hairs (okay, sorry couldn't help myself).
I'll bet Elliott is so in love with you trying to shovel food down his neck, hopefully the feeding tube improves that situation no-end!
I hope he has a speedy recovery, I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts.
Oh and if my ESP is functioning correctly, I hope your badly scratched fore-arms heal up soon Brian =o)

It's odd, I was diagnosed with the same thing a few years ago. Later I was told it was a false positive because I drank a little too much alcohol the night before the blood test. Maybe Elliott has been hitting the bottle too!
It's hard to see your little kids not feeling well. Sounds like Elliott is on the road to recovery and in good hands! Big hugs to you both!!
